A team of researchers in the Departments of Science, Technology and Engineering (STE) and Agriculture and Veterinary Sciences has won a Research Grant to Assess Small Scale Biochar Field Trials for Soil Amendments and its observed Influence on Maize Production in Varying Soil Types in Bungoma County of Kenya. This funding has been obtained courtesy of SUN-24; a nonprofit making organization that helps developing countries with cook stoves and solar lights and supports them with emerging green technologies. The funding in the tune of half a million Kenya Shillings will support sustainable food security within the framework of sustainable development Goals and will be spearheaded by Dr. John Makokha (Lead Researcher); Mr. Kennedy Munyole and Mr. Collins Majengo among others.
