Message from CoD, Mathematics

I WELCOME YOU ALL, Ladies and gentlemen. It is my great pleasure to welcome you to Kibabii University in Mathematics Department. As a Department, we put the student at the core of everything it does;with keen interest on research and innovation. The need for graduates with mathematical and statistical skills to give solutions to the ever increasing global challenges cannot be overemphasized. Here in Mathematics Department, we strive to train graduates with practical mathematical computing skills beyond the classroom. The department hosts an algebra system in a modern scientific computing laboratory in collaboration with the University of Sydney; Australia. Students in the first year are exposed to basic mathematics, statistics, fundamentals of computing, computer programing and social sciences. In the later years, the students are mentored into Mathematical Applications as scientists that can apply their skills in data analysis, research, public and private employment. The department of mathematics has continuously benefited from the university wide graduate recruitment of exemplary students in mathematics. Training of the students is enhanced by industrial exposure through industrial attachment. The mathematics graduate of Kibabii University is therefore easily employable within the university and in the general public and private sector, locally and internationally. Degree courses are offered to Ph.D level in pure and applied mathematics, statistics among many upcoming programmes.

The success of our students is realized through a team of dedicated staff that includes the following staff members namely: Prof. Shem Omukunda Aywa (Pure Mathematics); Dr.Lucy Chikamai (Pure Mathematics) ;Dr. Boniface Otieno Kwach (Applied Mathematics); Dr. Vincent Marani (Pure Mathematics) ;Mr. Vincent Magero (Statistics), Mr. Daniel Biwott (Statistics), Mr. Mulati Nyukuri (Statistics), Mr. Moses Kololi (Statistics); Mr. Mulambula Andanje (Applied Mathematics), Mr. John Sirengo (Statistics); Ms. Yvonne Kariuki (Pure mathematics);Ms. Jacinta Mutwiwa (Applied Mathematics), Nebert Kituni (Applied Mathematics) and Juma Shem (Scientific computing and technical user support).

Thank you and God bless you.
